Support the demonstrations at the Lib Dem and Tory Conferences
- March Against the Lib Dems – Sunday 18 September
- March Against the Tories – Sunday 2 October
This meeting notes:
1) The Coalition Government’s continuing attacks on jobs, services, pensions and living standards.
2) The growing resistance to the Con Dem agenda and the co-ordinated pension strikes on 30 June.
3) That a mass turnout at the demonstrations initiated by the Right to Work Campaign outside the Lib Dem conference and the Tory conferences in the autumn will send a defiant message to the government that we will not pay for their crisis.
4) That Right to Work are working closely with the regional TUCs, Disabled People Against the Cuts and others in the planning process to ensure that the demonstrations have broad and sizable support.
This meeting believes:
1) The 30 June co-ordinated pensions strike by PCS, UCU, NUT & ATL showed the kind of action needed to stop the government’s assault.
2) The News International scandal has exposed the weakness and corruption at the very top of society.
3) Further mass strikes in the autumn could inflict a serious defeat on the Cameron Government.
4) Mass demonstrations at the autumn conferences can intensify the pressure on Cameron and Clegg.
This meeting resolves:
1) To support and mobilise for the demonstrations at the Lib Dem Conference on 18 September and the Tory Conference on 2 October.
2) To circulate publicity to representatives & members, and send delegates to local mobilising meetings.
3) To put on transport to the protests.
4) To affiliate to the national Right to Work Campaign.
5) To donate towards the cost of the demonstrations.
