Yesterday NG Bailey’s became the latest company to withdraw from Besna.
Eight companies had been trying to impose new contracts on electricians. One dropped out months ago. Last week electricians celebrated as Balfour Beatty, the largest company, withdrew from Besna after six months of rank and file action and the threat of an official strike.
The contracts would mean up to a 35 percent pay cut for the hardest hit.
There are five smaller companies yet to announce their decision to leave.
Next protest: 7am, Friday 24 February, Laing O’Rourke’s site, Ossulston Street, behind The British Library, near London’s King’s Cross station.
Sparks are keeping up the pressure. The London protest tomorrow is aimed at the Crown House company which works on the site.
