Well over a thousand people packed into Friends Meeting House in Central London on Monday night to hear iconic figure from the 1968 Olympics John Carlos, Doreen Lawrence and Janet Alder.
There was an electric atmosphere with calls from Doreen Lawrence for a public enquiry cheered to the rafters.
Janet Alder described the long line of the deaths of black men in custody as ‘state murder’.
John Carlos received a huge reception. He said: ‘My life isn’t about winning medals, I am a freedom fighter’.
The meeting was organised by the RMT and supported by the FBU.
