Barking Meeting Called To Support Remploy Jobs Fight

Right To Work and Disabled People Against Cuts are hosting a public meeting in support of the Remploy workers in London tomorrow night.

Speakers include local Unite and GMB reps from Barking and a Barking councillor.

“Fight The Remploy Closures” invites supporters of the Remploy workers who are struggling against the Tory decision to shut 27 of the 54 factories across the country with the loss of around 1,200 mainly disabled workers jobs.

The meeting will take place in Barking, close to one of the factories due for closure.

Thursday’s strikes by Remploy workers were solid across the country and received fantastic solidarity from the trade union movement and beyond.

The campaign to save the Remploy factories is gathering pace: current and former Remploy workers, trade unionists, disabled peoples organisations, UK Uncut and Occupy in the local area have all pledged support.
