Workers at Remploy are taking strike action on 19th and 26th July against the ConDem’s decision to close 27 of the 54
remaining Remploy factories.
The overwhelming majority of Remploy workers
are disabled and they not only face the dole, but vicious cuts to disability benefits and being forced onto the Tories unpaid workfare
schemes.
Work and Pensions minister Iain Duncan Smith says that they must get jobs in mainstream employment. But there are already 2.6
million unemployed with many being forced to work for free or lose their benefits. Remploy was created 66 years ago as part of the welfare
state that this government is trying to destroy.
