Whilst Richard Branson was attempting to windsurf across the English Channel a group of demonstrators from Keep Our NHS Public successfully closed down his media store and gym on Oxford Street London. The group were demonstrating against the privatisation of the NHS and the involvement of the Virgin Healthcare Group. Virgin Healthcare now have 18 contracts for NHS services in 15 counties and have recently taken over NHS community services in Surrey. The demonstrators then moved on to occupy Sainsbury’s in Tottenham Court Road to protest their involvement in the privatisation of pharmacy services in Guy’s and Thomas’s and Kings College Hospitals.
