PROTEST AT "SCROOGE" CORUS BOSSES

Corus bosses have decreed a bleak Christmas for thousands of workers by their decision to “mothball” the steel plant at Redcar in the North East of England. Corus’s decision means 1,700 workers will lose their jobs in January at the plant, and thousands more will be thrown on the dole as other firms go under.

On Friday this week, Right to Work is taking the anger that workers feel to Corus’s headquarters. We will be calling for:

No closures
If there is £850 billion for the bankers, why not for workers at Corus?
Nationalise Corus if the firm won’t guarantee secure jobs
Put workers before profit

We aim for a lively protest involving workers, students and the unemployed.

Please join us on Friday, 11 December, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, at the Corus HQ, 30 Millbank London SW1P 4WY. Nearest tubes Pimlico or Westminster.

What better way to do this than for your union branch to join us at the Right to Work Conference in January. TOWER HAMLETS COLLEGE STRIKE ENDS IN VICTORY!

Lecturers at Tower Hamlets College in east London have won their battle to save 13 staff members from compulsory redundancy. After striking solidly for four weeks they forced management to back down from their planned program of cutting both jobs and the college's course provision.

This fantastic victory shows what is possible when we fight for the right to work!

URGENT SOLIDARITY NEEDED FOR BATTLING POST WORKERS

After the recent wave of postal strikes in the fight against the management's "modernisation" schemes CWU members are facing serious financial difficulties due to loss of earnings. With a ballot for national action underway more strike action in the near future is likely. To make sure that postal workers are able to continue their fight for jobs and a decent postal service for all please rush donations to the CWU's national hardship fund.

POLICE BREAK UP VESTAS BLOCKADE

A host of police officers from Hampshire County Constabulary have broken up the camp established to keep Vestas from moving blades out of the closed wind turbine factory on the Isle of Wight.
